We had a Rhodesian Ridgeback....another breed that looks big and scary if it walks down the driveway towards someone, but isn't at all aggressive. All that "lion hunting dogs" stuff works in their favour I think - they must just have a good PR agent !
When people used to say "But there aren't any lions in NSW?", the standard reply became "Not any more, no. Ridgebacks took care of 'em"
