Compiling the Bible and claiming to have written it, are two different things. They simply compiled what existed. It appears from their language at times, the CC's try to claim they wrote it and they probably claim this, by the claim that they were the follow on ones from the Apostles etc. However, their key core teachings on who and what the Father and Son are, are NOT as per the Apostles but their forefathers creations.
So how can you be a follower of someone, if you can't interpret their writings ? They can't even follow Jesus's simple message of who the only true God was, when Jesus was here John 17:3, as he certainly didn't claim himself to be it. (Him)
