Riversdale shareholders were fortunate that they did not stress themselves out of their shares because of transport issues.
The options noted in the Riversdale presentation included:
2011 2Mtpa to Beira by rail
2013 Zambesi River barging to Chinde - initially 2Mtpa
2015 Rail through Malawi to Nacala. Vale may have locked up much of Nacala port capacity.
Interesting that Indian thermal coal import demand is projected to increase from 40 million tonnes in 2010 to 150 million tonnes in 2020.
Riversdale shareholders were fortunate that they did not stress...
