I can see how the net benefit is minimal IF and only IF they would otherwise stand down ALL employees immediately.
For whoever they keep, they will receive $1500/fortnight to contribute to their wages. If they keep ANYONE, for any period (from yesterday), this is essentially a net benefit for the company. It increases the company's ability to survive though this.
We need to wait to see how things unfold and what the true net benefit will be.
No doubt this and other measures will influence the way in which the company responds and moves forwards (e.g. the rate and timing of stand-downs, the nature of scaling and restructure, etc).
Yes, it is a dreadful situation for many. Let's see what happens - my issue was with some others who are shouting "administration" and "all jobs gone" etc from the rooftops before we even know what is going on.
