djwally and I spoke to Eytan at last year's Melbourne water conference and raised this issue.
He said they expected that they will be copied. He said that the cheaper copies will have inferior performance as there is a lot of R&D in that little membrane that took decades to develop and without a deep understanding of it you'll never be able to match the performance of MABRE.
So they are confident that EMC will retain their premium market share and let the Chinese knock-offs fight it out at the low-end of the market.
