Fix the tax system? Reduce the size of govt so taxes fall and introduce a flat rate tax system at 20% for people earning up to $60k pa. 25% up to $150k pa and 30% max for anything above that. This may even reduce tax evasion. 3 levels only and medicare remains. Reduce deductions at the same time. The private sector would take up some of the govt workers and new job seekers as it has in the US under Trump. Charge smokers a flat $20 fee to visit doctors? That should piss off smokers who think someone else should pay for their inevitable illness. (i was once a smoker). They cant complain if they are willing to pay nearly $40 for a packet as a Doctors visit would cost half that. Labor and the greens will say its the end of civilization but are instrumental in rising tobacco taxes to where they are in the first place. Countries that want to increase taxes will slowly fail and see money leave for better run countries. England, under a moron like Corbyn will fail and dive into a recession. Given Brexit hasn't happened as yet and people could simply take the money out and deposit it in another country. Banks launder money for a living and accountants and right there with them. England will see a brain drain but Commies don't care even though history has shown this over and over. Socialism is a dud but it can work with things like health care in that it provides a safety net. Reduce the taxes on Nurses, fire fighters, Doctors and other health service workers to aid with the growing population. Incentivize people to do the job. That would win votes imo and that is what Labor should be doing to get back the working class they so readily stomped on for the inner city flake vote. No tax system is perfect and someone will always think its unfair no matter what you do. I am a big fan of providing workers and savers with less tax because they are better at allocating the money. Govts don't get bang for buck at all and they cant be trusted with the responsibility to use it wisely. Can't say the NBN was a good use of resources.
