    I think the opposite.

    GST is a far more fairer system of taxation than the current income taxation method. That is an absolute joke - filled with unnecessary complexity which people use to falsely claim a variety of deductions.

    Then you have multinationals who use transfer pricing, thin capitalisation rorts in order to avoid paying any tax.

    The outdated taxation system in Australia is a joke. The government would generate far more revenue if they significantly dropped the taxation rate, but removed the raft of BS deductions - which can be easily manipulated.

    As far as multinationals are concerned, of course they are going to move profits offshore to low taxation havens. You would too if you could legally. The point is you have to redesign completely the model of taxation.

    The very concepts of assessable income v taxable income have created this mess - and it's not just big companies. All the cash businesses, all the sole traders, all the small businesses - that use the company money as their piggy bank and then claim deductions for it.

    Lower the tax rate and then devise a calculation based on revenue and reduced deductions. The question is which government has the stomach for change.
