The Coalition has been doing that for 6 years & has barely balanced the budget when there should be a huge surplus.
When the next recession hits the government will have no choice but to rack up a huge amount of debt or face a long painfull downturn.
The tax burden was cut too far on the back of a temporary mining boom which has been pumped into over priced housing & sent overseas buying consumer goods.
The money from the mining boom should have been put into a Sovereign wealth fund for future generations, lowering their tax burden, not wasted.
