The $85K is what teachers pay will rise to over the next 3 years if they accept the proposal, not what they recieve now
Of course to get that $85K they will have to do something like 40 hrs professional developement over 5 years I think was the time frame
PD that will probably be paid for and done during student free days that they demand.
I have to do more PD hours than that in a year, in my own time and at my own cost.
I am no fan of the current government but many of the problems that exist have been there through different governments as long as I can remember.
IMO the state government is in the same position the Howard government starting reaching a few years ago, been there to long and probably should be replaced but nothing viable to replace them with
