"I have no time for the man but I do believe that no Australian citizen should be imprisoned indefinetly without trial by any foreign government and on that principle this government has failed badly."

From what I have read this is not "just" a case of being imprisoned indefinitely, which under certain conditions, while deprived of liberty, might not be too bad.

You know .. nice healthy meals, TV, newspapers, radio, computer etc. etc.

But with Hicks it is a case of slowly destroying a person's sanity.

From what I have read Hicks has been kept confined in a small, secluded dark room where sunlight cannot enter or be seen.

He has been allowed the Koran to read and that is it .... No other reading materials. No writing materials. No TV. Absolutely nothing.

Now I wonder how anyone here would manage to live under those conditions ... not just for a few days ... but for years?

Oh I forgot to mention ... it has been reported that at times he has been deprived of basic amenities like toilet paper.
