I bet the reporter misheard. I bet Howard said, "Go to hell!" lol
And by "polite" read, "politically correct." It's protocol for all candidates to appear at the announcement by the Electoral Office, of the winner of that seat, so Howard couldn't very well avoid it. Generally a bit of a speech is made by all sides, commenting on the fairness (or otherwise) of the campaign, their acceptance of the result, the fair way the Electoral Office has conducted the counting, their support, their congratulations and their good wishes to the winner.
Howard just gave her a polite handshake!
Now that's some angry sourpuss!
