misty, you want to waffle around the issue. Unless members have the freedom to vote according to their own preference, then it is not a democracy as such, rather a dictatorship by definition.
On a very few occasions members have been allowed to vote according to their conscious.
On odd occasions members have had the courage to vote against the party.
The fact that such occasions become so newsworthy is not confirmation that true democracy exists here, but acknowledgment that it is only allowed off the lease for a run when the master, or either political persuasion, feels like it.
The people they are allowed their run only on election day.
