I must say the concept of either Downer or the Abbott as PM material is so absurd it's positively risible. This poor country can't take too much more of their ilk. I'm surprised you guys haven't invoked the Grey Eminence, Ruddock or the hippo, Vanstone. But given time, I'm sure you will laud both these individuals as intellectual fountainheads battling each other in the queue of eligibility for PMhood... What a joke....
I think both Rudd and Gillard could do quite as PM. Others with not so high a profile spring to mind but that will do for now.
