I agree Chuck that Rudd and Gillard would be the best on offer in the ALP. Rudd has an extremely good intellect and I know that the people in his electorate love him. Gillard also has smarts and presents well. Also she is a woman so she would instantly appeal to a good percentage of Australian woman voters. NZ has Helen Clark the UK had Maggie Thatcher. Maybe it is Australia's turn.

Only problem with both those Candidates is that neither of them have what it takes to stand up against the knuckle brained ball busters who are the rank and file Labor party members . They would both be white anted by the various self interest groups within the party.

Maybe for Rudd and Gillard their best chance of becoming PM would be to join the Libs
