"Australia has shirked its responsibility," he said."

If the UNHCR is mandated to lead and co-ordinate international action to protect refugees and resolve refugee problems worldwide with its primary purpose to safeguard the rights and well-being of refugees then far from shirking its responsibility, Australia is seeking to strengthen this convention. UNHCR and this Michele Gabaudan are merely protecting and safeguarding the business of the scheming, unscruplulous people trafficers at the expense of the welfare of refugees.

Michele Gabaudan's comment simply seeks to vindicate his own lack of leadership and undermine UNHCR's actual mandate.
