Mr. X, whilst you may be concerned about what our armed forces may or may not do without our knowledge, such a situation is not new. In the past our ASIS operated completely out of sight. Parliment wasn't even officially notified of it's existence until 1973, 20 years after it was formed, even though the British and US governments not only knew about it, but knew details of it's operations. In fact it became a tool for the CIA to do some of it's dirty work that even our PM's were not aware of at the time. Just as well because some of that work was to feed biased intelligence into our own political system. So don't get too worried, things are much more transparent now, I think, I hope anyway.
