People mention, including howard, that we were a target after East Timor. What about before that. What reason did terrorists have to kill us, we were everyone's mates then. If East Timor made increased our probability of being attacked then it follows that Afghanistan and subsequently Iraq will contribute incrementally as well.

I am not saying that East Timor and Afghanistan let alone Iraq were not appropriate or virtuous. It just seems to me that we are putting ourselves at unnecessary risk.
