I saw an interview with the CEO of Shell, Aus branch, where he was describing the future direction for the co. They are heading toward carbon net zero (not counting methane though) by 2030. likely through a load of off-sets and carbon credits, but surely it would be too expensive to rely even mildly on such for long.
they extract gas much more cheaply than the spot price and this would make their hydrogen much more viable. I read a couple of weeks ago that Shell is in with Andrew Forrest so both will likely get a good roi by 2035 or so.
don't mistake me though, I'm averse to gas produced H2. but I can't help preferring expert opinion to my own.
