Australia’s “Covidsafe” phone app was (supposed to be) a digital tracking program the government wanted to use to identify and track “covid outbreaks” via “check-ins” and logging the location data of users.

Television media in Australia was used in 2020 to generate a hype around the covidsafe app, calling it “the only way out of lockdown.”

$21 million was taken to build the app, which never worked properly and is now being completely scrapped, according to notifications sent out by the app over the past few days.

    >What actually happened here is government bureaucrats stole $21 million from Australian workers, payed $50,000 to an IT guy in India to make an app which looked legit but never worked or did anything useful, then just kept the rest of the money for themselves.
