I too use the BT dongle on my desktop as there is no Bluetooth. After pairing the MAX with the BT dongle it seems to work OK. When I want to switch devices I just turn off the BT dongle using the ON/OFF button (not an elegant solution) and when the MAX disconnects I just pair to the second device. I have seen a few times my phone pair to two devices simultaneously - the MAX and my car. This is a bit annoying.
As a MAX user I am looking forward to HP's collaboration efforts flowing through to the MAX in a future firmware update. HP makes it clear the Elite buds will block out office and background noise for enhanced collaboration. As a use of Max I don't notice office background noise being blocked out in Zoom /Teams or just plain mobile voice calls.
