Worth discussing.
This does not fill me with confidence. If they'd found a hydrocarbon filled reservoir you would stop drilling just below it so you could log and sample the reservoir.
If they've gone ahead to 5,000 TD then they must be testing some deeper targets also.
The question is what if anything did they intersect in the shallower original target? One would speculate that if they did find something they would have made an announcement of a discovery after log/sample and prior to drilling ahead to TD.
