"My understanding is that the French expedition was the idea or promoted by McNally the current CEO. As a result, if the French expedition is a dud, he will be the last to admit he was wrong. It takes a new CEO as in Wesfarmers re their UK hardware foray. Maybe things will turn in France and UK when there are delays / longer waiting queues for surgery and the public voice their frustrations."

I like to think that the Ramsay board is bigger, more responsible, and more mature than just one individual in the company and that any decisions that need to be taken in relation to the ill-considered international foray, will be taken with shareholder value in mind, as opposed to pandering to the ego of a single executive personality.
