I'm sorry but I think that's bs on Credit Suisse's part. Australia has GDP per capita of $49,113 growing at 3% according to OECD Data, and it's not like going to the hospital deserves the same decision making process as buying a cup of coffee, or a new car for example. I'm pretty sure if myself or anyone I knew needed medical assistance, I would ensure they got the best treatment available, with cost not being front of mind. I suppose as Australians we would rather have a big mortgage than financial freedom - although I feel a large percentage of the population think the former allows for the latter.
