Since no one is posting I'll tell you Sci why I am confident that the professor and his team have nailed it now it is only a gut feel and I could be completely wrong but...
When I look at the situation I find it un feasible that someone with the Professor Frasers pedigree and credentials who has worked for fifteen years to develop this vax and the platform on which its based would put the vaccine up for scrutiny if he wasn't extremely confident of its performance.
I think it unlikely that he would allow millions of dollars to be spent along with the time and effort that the trials require only to say "well that didn't work".
My instincts tell me that behind closed doors he and his team have a far greater understanding of how they expect the hsv2 vaccine to perform but for obvious reasons can not give a running commentary. Time will tell.
