The majority shareholders of BOC are the governments of PNG and Bougainville. To suggest they will walk away from a proven resource of international significance is fanciful.
In a nutshell they will do all things necessary to realise and return the maximum benefits for the owners who are in effect the people. That is to say the existing ownership of BOC will reopen the mine as anything else will dilute the overall returns to the local shareholders.
