I think u are deluding yourself that shareholders will decide…...the system is rigged by pollvoting that the people with the biggest pocket will dictate the outcome.to the majority of individual shareholders.
U must remember that Linkmarket and ComputerShare research shows that only about 4-5% of eligible shareholders actually bother to vote.
Out of this small percentage…the majority of 75% votes will come from the T20 and the likes of MCB.
Unless there is provisions within the Corp Act to ignore the result, it’s finito to the demerger.
My knowledge is limited about the Corp Act but I'm aware when a "Show Off Hands" is called by the Chairman…the Chairman can ignore the result if the Chair does not believe it reflects the wishes off the majority of shareholders.
Hopefully the Act gives the Chairman the powers to ignore Grok Ventures purchased voting rights, bought simply to dictate to the majority of retail shareholders.on what is best for them.
Not to dissimilar to a penthouse owner in a large unit complex trying to dictate where the body corp funds should be spent!
