Some of things about this recall that should be noted as minimal negatives.
1. These are not implanted devices that are failing and therefore pose no health risk, unlike recalls from competitors.
2. It is a hardware (or software?) issue that does not cover all COH devices and they are still offering alternatives
3. Some competitors are still having trouble with their products and my guess is surgeons will simply use the older COH external unit
4. COH in the past has adopted a very proactive approach to managing these issues, ie. "abundance of caution". 1% failure rate is hardly catastrophic.
