Well, I just received a ball park figure from a company that transports iron ore by 98 tonne trucks. They said for a 1,600 km round trip, it could come in at around $80 a tonne, which is close to what I thought of $6/km.
$6/km = $90/t.
(A mate told me $10/km and his was inaccurate as I thought)
So with transport at $80/t, say $90/t, leave a lot of room for mining costs. One would would think to dig up near surface DSO (direct shipping) manganese would certainly cost less than $50/t.
So total costs of $135 per tonne appear possible.
At $135/t costs, the break-even point would be US$370 dtmu, which is close to the lowest manganese price during the GFC.
Currently, dtmu is around US$8 (US$800 per tonne), which would earn 60 cents EPS on 200m shares.
To conclude, I reiterate my post title: huge manganese potential with 43% grade.
