I suspect Rudi had in vitro results well before the Jan submission date that showed PBT2 was effective in preventing the formation of plaques and tangles. Note - just my speculation.

It gives a whole new reason for Rudi to be upbeat in the period prior to release of Imagine results. I assume it influenced the type of daily thoughts and tweets that he posted. He had more reason to be positive than we knew at the time.

In in my mind, this new info also relegates the Imagine 'failure' to something like a bump in the road in the scheme of things, outweighed as it is by many other pieces of evidence in support of MPACs including this quite compelling new method / proof (?) from Tanzi's lab.

That's just my take on it.
