Australia is struggling to import enough life-saving medication which is currently manufactured overseas - due to these countries being royally screwed themselves by COVID-19.

"Australians with chronic health conditions are having to take drastic stop-gap measures because of a continuing medication shortage, medical specialists say.
Many essential medications have been in short supply globally since coronavirus wreaked havoc on healthcare supply chains."

"Hobart pharmacy owner Rhys Jones said it was the worst medication shortage he had experienced in his 30 years."

"Medical professionals said the pandemic has also shown Australia was too reliant on the offshore manufacturing of essential medications."
Over time, what we need to do is really nail down supply sources, but also consider in the future the ability to have the capacity to either manufacture on an ongoing basis, or to be able to manufacture them on relatively short notice if there were supply problems," Dr Moy said.
Pharmacist Rhys Jones agreed. "I think we rely too much on outside sources for those drugs and we need to become much more self-sufficient in Australia," he said."
