    So you are suggesting the government should subsidise onshore production of medicines?

    On one hand I agree. I don't like anything I put in my body being manufactured overseas, particularly places like India and China.
    I know the facilities are managed but the parent companies and are of the highest standard, but things just happen and that is my personal feeling.
    It is also not in our national interest to be reliant on other countries for essential medicines.

    On the other hand I generally disagree with government propping up unsustainable industries.

    The increased cost will ultimately be paid for by tax payers/consumers but perhaps that is a cost we are prepared to pay.

    Whether or not generic/licensed manufacturing of medicines is something CSL should consider. I'm not sure. Perhaps if the scale were larger, i.e. supplying other 1st world countries with medicine from a stable, reliable and trustworthy source...???

    It is certainly an opportunity and I am sure CSL management have at least discussed it.
