I think government is needed to give them a kick start to begin with, but yes once its up and running producing and making money (industry as a whole) they should be fine.
I would not see Penola as a good thing, if anything it brought the share price down. That said I personally don't see it as a huge negative, but it didn't live up to the expectations management put on it. Or at least it has not yet.
Noted the company do have disclaimers and it is a risky project. So as an investor you do have to know what you are getting into. I still see a very bright future for geothermal its just a matter of time, and I have time on my side...
I think in the next few years, push will turn into shove with the government and the lack of action on climate change. Think of it like when you are uni or school and you have an assignment, its all get done the night before...
