If school funding was tied to teacher outcomes most teachers would be sacked!!
Our education system is going down the drain. This reflects in the quality of our graduates. First year at uni is now a rehash of what the students needed to know when they came out of high school. Engineering is now a 4 year course primarily because the first year is just bringing the students up to speed.
We seem to think that if we pay the teachers more we will get a better quality of teacher. This does not work. We are paying out teachers bucket loads of money and getting shyte in return.
I personally do not know what the answer is, but I do know our teachers are not up to scratch. Students are moved up from grade to grade with poor achievements and graduate almost illiterate and innumerate. Teachers do not care!!
As for public schooling vs private schooling. Our grandson went to a public school near Toowoomba learned nothing, and was constantly missing classes, his parents in desperation sent him to a private school and under new teachers he blossomed!! For our family the simple lesson was public schooling is a failure and we fully support private schools because of the better quality of teaching. If you want to ensure your kids come out of school with some semblance of an education send them to a private school and conversely if you want public schools to ensure a better quality of graduate run them like private schools. SACK the non performing teachers..
As a point of interest, the public school teacher next door, sends his kids to a private school, why is that??
Interesting that he can afford to do it and interesting that he prefers his kids be educated in private not public schooling!!!
