as far as research goes there are litera lly dozens of people giving free research or you can even pay for it - morningstar, under the radar etc etc. Free ones Livewire, *, Roger Montgomery - just off the top of my head.
also worth doing the hard yards of reading company accounts etc to form your own opinion
