    Hi Ikhutch,

Farmers imo do merit special consideration and compensation if justified ought to be made available for any undue loss as a result of the decision made. However I would like to refer you to one of Oorains posts on the issue and what he says sounds plausible and if correct the impact to live stock farmers may not be that great and should make compensation to those in most need possible. Below is a copy of Oorains post in response to another posters question.

":wont they just find another supplier?

not necessarly that easy, they tried NZ but they banned live trading long ago. The logistics of finding a supplier close enough to shore, with the quality, who can keep them alive long enough at sea at the additional feed costs and still maintain low pricing is not that simple.

It will blow over quick enough, they wll promise to behave themselves, open their doors to more inspections and its
Bob's your anutie in no time.Storm in a tea cup"

Ikhutch, I also point out that the head of one of the countries largest livestock exporters to Indonesia and owner of six cattle stations in Northern Australia support the ban notwithstanding it will impact its business.

    cheers
