Obviously children, food for civilians etc. count for little so far as the Iraqis are concerned

"HUMAN shields including Australian Gordon Sloan say they were kicked out of Iraq because they criticised the Government's choice of sites to protect.

Former Big Brother contestant Sloan, from Sydney, was among five foreigners expelled from Iraq this week after going to Baghdad to serve as volunteer human shields.

The American head of the group, Ken O'Keefe, said in Amman in neighbouring Jordan that they had chosen locations "essential to the civilian population", such as food storage warehouses and water and electricity facilities.

But he said the Iraqi Government wanted the shields in more sensitive locations.

"They removed us from the sites we had chosen because we were critical of the integrity and the autonomy of the Iraqi authorities," O'Keefe, 33, said. "I was escorted by Iraqi intelligence officers to the border, because I say what I believe and the Iraqi Government wants submissive easy robots"
