I saw this too, but it is very misinformed imo.

I have Afterpay, Zip, Humm and bundll accounts, as well as a Latitude line of credit I have used for big purchases at Apple, Dell, Harvey Norman et al, over the years to pay off big items interest-free over a set number of months or years. For a small monthly fee, it frees up my cash to deploy elsewhere. I use all these accounts for various purposes, but mostly I like the convenience they provide, and I never get charged late or overdue fees. As an investor in all of them at some point, I have also been a net beneficiary.

Curiously though, when it came to applying for and making a purchase on a Humm big things account, it was the first time I was knocked back and refused credit, despite having an excellent credit rating (and existing Humm and bundll accounts.) As a shareholder, I was bit miffed but also reassured by their lending standards.

For my everyday purchases, I find bundll second to none. My only criticism with the Humm app is that the payment option is not widely available online or the places I usually shop, and their bill payment option is too expensive compared to zip for instance. As a result, my $2,000 Humm limit mostly sits idle and is rarely used.

So personally, I think Choice should be awarding themselves the shonky award for lack of due diligence and misinformation. I wonder if any of them have bothered to use the products extensively themselves, instead of inadvertently pleading the banks cause by applying a default and inaccurate criticism of BNPL in general.
