The Carbon Tax is a result of a hung parliament that the electorate voted for. This may be only the start as the Greens hold the balance of power in the Senate and the agricultural/farming sector via the independents now have primary power. It would have happened if the Liberal Party was held to ransom as well IMO. This is the first Green Party policy implemented in Australia - one of many IMO. Our govt is very unstable and will be for some years. It won't matter to some extent who wins the next election - it'll continue but the difference maybe how the extra revenue will be used.
