As can be construed by your post, the implications are that you are a ALP supporter scitty. My comment is aimed squarely at the Westminster system where of course legislation can be passed in a hung parliament, but only when "policy concessions" are negotiated upon in advance.
Hot Copper's posts are current evidence of a very divisive Australian population - only due to the fact that a minor party and a no. of independents are the primary negotiators of which the absolute majority of the electorate did not vote for their policies. The bicam system is not purposefully set up for a stable outcome when the parliement is hung - my view wouldn't change no matter which political party assumed "control".
The end result has been a PM stating she will not introduce a policy into the last election only being forced to reneg and introduce a policy she stated she would never implement. The end result is instability, division, lack of certainty etc all culminating in the the current govt looking foolish, untrustworthy, hypocritical & weak to those that have little idea how the current hung parliament has been forced to operate. Gillard had no choice.
Much of the Australian electorate believes they have been lied too, but the Carbon Tax is only the first off the rank where govt policy will need to swing to the far left to cease any possibilty of a double dissolution eventuating and retain power (at all costs).
It's mostly about winning the game where no absolute majority exists. This is where our system needs to change and adapt to a different landscape where no longer a stable two party federal system is apparent that Australia has enjoyed for so long.
Current Federal politics in Australia is a complete disaster.
