Key changes to long term forecasts include: A$/US$ exchange rate increased from 0.80 to 0.95 Aluminium up 27% to US$1.40/lb Copper up 25% to US$2.50/lb Nickel steady at US$10.00/lb Gold up 15% to US$750/oz Oil steady at US$100/bbl Lump iron ore up 20% to US90/dmtu Thermal coal up 17% to US$70/tonne Coking coal up 20% to US$120/tonne
Business Impact: Our BHP valuation increases 5% to $48.60ps. FY08 and FY09 earnings are relatively unchanged at 274cps and 382cps respectively. A combination of share price retreat and our valuation upgrade sees our recommendation upgraded to Buy.
