BHP value at $48.60 - for my sake I hope they are right cause I still own a small parcel of the big fella. There is/was a belief that BHP is worth around the $50. I reckon they are about right. Unfortunately, there are other factors that overide BHP superb mining history and business activity.
I don't see $50 in the short term. There is a definite shift toward finacials at present and confidence is returning in this sector. Risk has already been over-factored into finacials share price. Financials are yielding well. Aussie banks are heavily regulated and there has been an selling overreaction of which is being corrected right now.
For what is worth I have backed these words with action (rightly or wrongly) and have reduced BHP when price was $44 -$45 and accumulated bank stocks (albeit just before true J-curve).
Yeah BHP easily worth $50 but not before financials stack on another 20-30% IMHO then BHP might put on the dog.
