Hybrid renewable energy systems, have been discussed many times on this forum. Arguably Australia has the best renewable resources in the world.
Half of Australia's coastline is suitable for wave energy.
"Wave or tidal energy may become a real contributor, and some of those forces are more predictable and stable by definition. "

"Advanced energy storage could be another huge key to making renewable energy more functional,"
The ability of CETO to produce freshwater and power, makes it an attractive proposition for pumped hydroelectric storage. Particularly if it combines with other renewable energy types in hybrid schemes.
Not only can the water be stored for energy, desalinated water can be used to supply industry, agriculture, mining etc. with freshwater after it produces energy. Because it can produce freshwater on demand, it is not reliant on rainfall to keep the reservoirs full.

By including CETO in the system, the lower reservoir can be the ocean.
