Unlike America, Aus does not have any car manufacturing industry to protect against cheap Chinese car imports; particularly Cheap Chinese EVs.; nevertheless the Wolff presentation is interesting in that it deals in part in how the US is struggling to deal with the influx of cheap Chinese EVs
The video below is interesting, IMO, even though it focuses on Chinese competition to US manufacturing generally and the US auto manufacturing protectionist policies being implemented against cheap Chinese EVs specifically and cheap Chinese electronic chips The chips are a surprise because the average Aussie was likely to think that when it came to chips, that it was the export of US chips to China that was the big issue.
IMO, its ironic that the impending crippling tariffs on Chinese EVs by the USA is supposed to create/maintain US workers' jobs while the economic engine of the USA, namely Silicon Valley which has replaced Detroit is hell bent on developing the latest and greatest AI to replace workers including those on the US Auto assembly lines and related manufacturing .
Anyway, have a listen to Wolff...although he's a Socialist (but an eminent economist) , he has some pertinent things to say about US economic policy towards US tariffs on Chinese EVs and comments on the US financial empire:
