I agree that there is a range of Chinese tyres in quality/price
but the norm for city driving and for those doing low kms is the cheaper jobs.
Some years ago a friend imported Japanese diesel cars that were
heavy on the steer tyres due to the Diesel engine and the best/most
durable tyres for these cars were Maxxis (Yokohamas made in China)
and that was 20 years ago!
With China owning over 30% of the global automotive market with
its "Made in China 2025" program on the way, IMO China will soon
own the entire tyre market. The western tyre manufacturers including
the HD truck tyre manufacturers are now struggling to compete.
On my local car sales strip, Chinese replacement tyres for dealer stock
is all the go.
