    Yeah, nargh.

Sensible and level-headed people are fortunate enough not to be burdened with the sort of existential angst with which your post is replete.

Remove the veil in front of your eyes and look at what is happening around the world: the perception delta about the Great Green Grift momentum has turned negative.

This month's EU elections demonstrate the political pendulum swinging decidedly away from deep green, renewables-uber-alles types of political ideologies, with the Greens and liberals losing more than a quarter of their seats in the EU parliament.

Chasing rainbows and sitting around the campfire singing kumbaya is fine when all is well with the world, but when livelihoods and living standards get threatened, reasonable and rational minds very promptly re-focus on what it costs to live.

When the economy of the poster child for renewable energy in the OECD, namely Germany, shows the following sort of contraction in its industrial output impairment due to dispatchable baseload power, resulting in elevated energy prices, it results in the proles seeing the green dream as being more of a mirage than the road to prosperity for all that it was cracked up to be:

    Viva Energiewende, eh?

Oh, and I read the other day that the New Zealand government is excluding agricultural sector from a carbon price

And just this morning I see a report that one of Australia's largest power utilities is walking back its ownership of renewables because it is return-dilutive:
