Search on owner satisfaction on a Prius. Ordinary motorists and cabbies ❤️ them. Toyota have it worked out. I have bought one 12V battery in 14 years, the only maintenance, literally, in the 14 years with my Camry Hybrid. Being retired and doing low Ks my depreciation would be about $2k/y. fuel and an annual oil change add another $2k/y. What's the depreciation [only] on an EV?

If HV battery replacement costs are in the ballpark of what I suspect, I would likely do the repair, but I had it checked and it should last years more. My depreciation would be about $2k/y.

But a hybrid is just an ICE with regenerative breaking [Don't think of it as "an EV lite"] and with extra torque when you sink the wellie.
