2 drive systems in one car is more complicated than one or the other.
The grey motor Holden was simple, it was also a terribly expensive car by today's standards, primitive really.
The hybrid doesn't have a starter, power steering, power brakes and aircon are all electric so no belts or oil leaks, the transmission is "sealed for life" [whatever that means] and it has a timing chain so no belt changes. It's swings and roundabouts.
