Dave SS post is based on electricity being primarily
generated by fossil fuels (at present) so as renewables
replace fossil fuels in electricity generation , the CO2
footprint in mining, processing and manufacturing will
reduce accordingly.
The figure in the primary research was 39% renewables.
Keep in mind this was research done and reported by a collaboration between Polestar and Rivian .
As you drill back thru the research a couple of layers , there are a few bits of wishful thinking , which gild the lily a bit , but doesn't really alter the general outcome.
As I said earlier , the green side is not above some B/S , but it pales into insignificance when compared with the deniers.
Of interest to me is research on the carbon footprint of buses [ even ICE buses are not that bad] , but that is of no interest to Elon types , as the illusion that electric cars for individuals will make a massive difference seems all powerful .
I hear people talking about self driving cars , but think about how much reduction in travel that actually produces.
Any reduction in carbon will need to come from a reduction in the number of vehicles , hopefully that is what happens.
If you are going to wait for a car , why not a bus or a tram.?
cheers
