As I said time moves on, what was acceptable and modern 20, 50 or 100 years ago is just history today just like the Prius and its derivatives. You and Toyota might not accept it and even Australia's car buying public have been hoodwinked by Toyotas advertising campaign (Yes Toyota I am talking about your "Self Charging" Hybrids, what a load of crock.) but Hybrids are history. Yes people with range anxiety will keep buying them for a few years yet but like Vinyl records, VCRs and Compact discs they will all go the same way with just a few hangers on in remote corners of the country.

It's an open forum. I am not confined to what YOU wish to talk about. Toyota Hybrids are super reliable. A "conventional" ICE [especially diesel] needs a turbo charger to match the power of a hybrid. Complexity added. End of story.
