No, it doesn't.
The depreciation in value still occurs; it simply gets born by the taxpayer.
So, in effect, what we have are the taxes from people on lower incomes (those who can't afford an EV) subsidising the depreciation blow that would otherwise have been experienced by people who are sufficiently well-off that they can afford an EV.
Like so many distortions that arise when governments play the role of picking winners based on ideology, instead of sound economic principles, in the EV space we basically have the working class subsidising inner-city elites.

Exactly, poor people still paying 66c kwh for rich people's solar feed in tariffs too, the mental gymnastics from the left in supporting this is something else
